The licence, which is granted under section 53G of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO) by the Hong Kong Companies Registry, provides clients with assurance they are working with a trusted provider for corporate services in Hong Kong and operating within the regulator’s robust compliance standards.
Stephen Lane, Head of GRC, Asia said: ‘Securing authorisation as a recognised service provider is a significant accolade. It underscores Hawksford’s commitment to achieving the highest levels of governance and regulatory compliance in each of our international jurisdictions. We welcome the introduction of increased regulatory oversight of providers, which came into effect in Hong Kong in March of 2018, because it will deliver a uniform compliance discipline across all legitimate service providers. It assists in exposing low quality providers with the potential to impact Hong Kong’s reputation as a financial centre negatively. The CSP licence provides clients with the confidence that they are dealing with regulated entities in Hong Kong.’
Hawksford CEO, Michel van Leeuwen, added: ‘The evolving standards of regulation plays to Hawksford’s strength as a sophisticated and international Corporate, Private Client and Fund Services provider. Hawksford significantly extended its presence in Asia in 2018 when it acquired People & Projects Limited (P&P). Becoming a licensed provider reinforces the company’s commitment to bolstering our reputation as the services provider of choice in the region.’
