Hawksford and EDB in Spain
Dario Acconci, Hawksford’s Managing Director for Southeast Asia and Judith Padros, Hawksford’s Business Development Manager in Spain, recently spoke at the panel event ‘Singapore, the Gateway to Asia’ held in Barcelona and Madrid on 5th and 6th of March respectively. This event was held in collaboration with the Confederación Española de Organizaciones Empresariales (CEOE) and the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDB).
At the event, Dario and Judith gave an overview about setting up a company in Singapore and how Spanish companies can benefit from it, touching on topics such as Singapore strategic location, tax incentives and the free-trade agreements that Singapore has entered into or currently negotiating with other economic regions. They also discussed other topics which included:
- Different types of company entity for setting up in Singapore: Representative office, Branch office or Private Limited Company
- The differences between each type of entity
- The labour law in Singapore
- How Singapore acts as the gateway to jurisdictions such as China and other ASEAN countries
Mr. Sim Zhilin, Regional Director of EDB, was also present at the event to explain about the European Union Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA), how EDB can help foreign investors looking for business opportunities in Asia, and the incentives and schemes available for companies in Singapore looking for growth.
