David Rimmer presents to Chinese banking professionals

Client Manager David Rimmer shares knowledge of Jersey regulations with Chinese banking professionals

Client Manager David Rimmer recently shared his specialist knowledge of trusts and corporate services with an audience of 22 Chinese banking professionals at the China Zheshang Bank's (CZB) senior management programme.

Held at The Møller Centre, Churchill College at the University of Cambridge, the weeklong training event was designed to educate senior executives of CZB, who had travelled from various provinces in China to attend, on banking business trends, leadership, the macro economy and innovation in the banking sector. The event provided the delegates, senior members of CZB's talent management programme, with new ideas and product solutions to develop in China for their own client portfolios.

Mr Rimmer's three-hour presentation, which was translated into Chinese, focussed on the use of international trust and corporate services for structured planning. The only Channel Islands' representative on the event programme, he was invited to present at the event by Louise Wang of The Møller Centre, who organised the event for CZB.

'Presenting to CZB professionals was a unique opportunity to share Hawksford's, and Jersey's, specialist knowledge of the trust and corporate services industries. The delegates were very interested to learn more about Jersey's regulations, favoured structures and the services that the Island is able to offer on an international scale to its global clients. I also learnt a great deal about how China is investing overseas using international structures.

'To be invited to present at the training event confirms that Jersey is receiving greater recognition as a highly regulated international finance centreby the Chinese business community,' said Mr Rimmer, a client manager with responsibility for business development across Hawksford's corporate and private client teams.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, CZB is a national joint-stock commercial bank which was established in 1993. It has nearly 90 branches in 10 provinces across China and registered capital of 10 billion yuan.

The event took place from the 8 - 12 August 2016.
