About Hawksford - 09 April 2018

Data protection compliance is fundamental to our role as trusted administrators

Learn what Hawksford is doing in relation to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 (DP(J)L).

What is GDPR?

The GDPR is the largest change to the protection of personal data since the Directive in 1995.  It sets guidelines for the collection and processing of personal information of individuals within the European Union.

What is Jersey doing?

Jersey is introducing new legislation (DP(J)L) which will reflect the GDPR to ensure it keeps pace with an equivalent level of protection to the EU’s regime.

Both pieces of legislation will come into effect on 25 May 2018.

What is Hawksford doing?

Hawksford has always recognised that data protection compliance is fundamental to our role as trusted administrators.  With this comes a responsibility for data that is personal and confidential to our clients. We have a dedicated team who are working closely with industry and leading experts to ensure that we maintain our high standard.  This means we are working on an internal project which involves reviewing all of our policies, processes and internal documentation in relation to accountability and record keeping.

Our Data Protection project is one phase of our long term plan.  It includes meeting the obligations of 25 May 2018 as well as data compliance on an ongoing basis.

If you have any questions in relation to data protection please contact our Data Protection Officer and they will be happy to discuss with you in more detail.
