You will be involved across the full accounting cycle, from bookkeeping, reconciliations and financial reporting through to annual accounts, VAT returns, audit support and working directly with clients and professional advisers.

Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Take day-to-day ownership of the accounting requirements for an assigned portfolio of client entities.
  • Prepare and maintain full and accurate accounting records.
  • Prepare journal entries and complete month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Prepare income statements, balance sheets, trial balances and supporting schedules.
  • Complete bank, balance-sheet, intercompany and other relevant reconciliations.
  • Prepare periodic management and group reporting for client companies.
  • Prepare annual accounts for Dutch entities.
  • Support the preparation and coordination of consolidated annual accounts for client group structures.
  • Prepare VAT returns and support other relevant tax or statutory filings.
  • Monitor outstanding information and follow up to ensure work progresses to deadline.
  • Liaise directly with clients to obtain documentation, information and clarification.
  • Provide clear and timely responses to accounting-related queries.
  • Work closely with Managers to support the overall delivery of services to clients.
  • Develop a good understanding of assigned client structures, transactions and reporting requirements.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional advisers.
  • Support client onboarding and changes to existing client structures where accounting input is required.
  • Ensure accounting and tax files are accurate, complete and kept up to date.
  • Maintain clear audit trails and appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, unusual transactions or control concerns and take appropriate action.
  • Complete work in line with applicable accounting standards, company procedures and agreed service standards.
  • Prioritise work effectively, taking account of client requirements, internal stakeholders and competing deadlines.
  • Keep process documentation and client-specific instructions up to date.
  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Provide practical support to junior colleagues and answer routine questions.
  • Share knowledge and support consistent ways of working across the team.
  • Contribute to improvements in accounting processes, systems and controls.
  • Undertake reasonable additional duties and project work when required.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent, or a relevant professional or vocational accounting qualification.
  • Relevant accounting experience, preferably within professional services, corporate services or an international environment.
  • Experience preparing financial statements, reconciliations and financial reports.
  • The ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering accurate work.
  • Confidence working independently while recognising when matters should be escalated.
  • Good client service, communication and interpersonal skills.

While not essential, the following skills and experience would be advantageous:

  • Experience with Dutch client entities and international corporate structures.
  • Knowledge of Dutch company law, Dutch GAAP and relevant Dutch tax requirements.
  • A good understanding of Dutch.
  • Experience using Exact Online.
  • Experience working with auditors, tax advisers and other professional advisers.
