Principal Accountabilities: 

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records for client entities.
  • Process invoices, bank transactions and journal entries.
  • Maintain general ledgers and supporting accounting schedules.
  • Complete bank, balance-sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes.
  • Support the preparation of periodic management information and annual accounts.
  • Assist with the preparation of VAT returns and other financial or tax-related filings.
  • Ensure supporting documents are complete, accurate and appropriately retained.
  • Maintain clear and complete accounting files and audit trails.
  • Work with colleagues to obtain the information needed to complete client work.
  • Support responses to straightforward client and adviser queries.
  • Work collaboratively with Managers and other members of Corporate Services.
  • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation when required.
  • Escalate missing information, errors, unusual transactions or potential delays promptly.
  • Complete work in line with company procedures, accounting standards and agreed deadlines.
  • Protect the confidentiality of client and financial information.
  • Support the maintenance of process notes and client-specific accounting instructions.
  • Contribute positively to the wider team and undertake reasonable additional duties when required.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Good written and spoken English.
  • A professional qualification, or currently studying towards a qualification, in accounting, finance or a related subject.
  • Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • A structured and organised approach to work.
  • The ability to follow procedures and meet agreed deadlines.
  • A willingness to learn, ask questions and take feedback on board.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team.

While not essential, the following skills and experience would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting or financial administration.
  • Experience working within a professional services or corporate services environment.
  • Knowledge of Dutch accounting or tax requirements.
  • A good understanding of Dutch.
  • Experience using Exact Online or a similar accounting system.
