Interim Senior Client Accountant Manager - 6 to 12 months, Corporate
In this role, you will have ownership of a portfolio of corporate clients, working across complex and international structures, annual accounts, management and group reporting, VAT, audit and statutory requirements. You will also play an important role in supporting the wider team in reviewing work, providing support and sharing knowledge and guidance to junior and medior colleagues, helping coordinate priorities and contributing to improvements across our accounting processes and systems.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Take ownership of the accounting requirements for a portfolio of corporate clients.
- Manage complex or international client accounting matters.
- Prepare and review periodic management and group reporting.
- Prepare and review annual accounts for Dutch entities.
- Prepare and coordinate consolidated annual accounts for client group structures.
- Prepare and review balance sheets, income statements, trial balances, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Prepare and review VAT returns and support other relevant tax and statutory filings.
- Assess outstanding accounting items and take ownership of progressing them to completion.
- Investigate and resolve accounting differences, historical issues and incomplete records.
- Ensure client deliverables are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
- Develop a strong understanding of client structures, transactions and reporting requirements.
- Act as a trusted accounting contact for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with Managers to coordinate the delivery of client services.
- Liaise with auditors, tax advisers, banks and other professional advisers.
- Provide clear and timely responses to complex accounting queries.
- Identify potential delays, risks or dependencies and escalate these promptly.
- Review accounting work and supporting documentation produced by less experienced colleagues.
- Ensure accounting and tax files are complete, accurate and supported by clear audit trails.
- Identify errors, control weaknesses and areas requiring further investigation.
- Maintain appropriate accounting standards, internal controls and company procedures.
- Support timely statutory reporting, audit and tax processes.
- Keep process documentation and client-specific instructions accurate and up to date.
- Support consistent and effective ways of working across the Client Accounting team.
- Provide additional capacity during overlapping reporting, audit, filing and project deadlines.
- Support finance-system improvements, testing, implementation and data-quality work where required.
- Assist with the development of new forms, procedures and control documentation.
- Maintain a clear record of progress, outstanding actions and dependencies.
- Support an effective transfer of knowledge and open actions before the assignment ends.
- Provide support and share knowledge and guidance to junior and medior colleagues.
- Review work constructively and provide clear feedback.
- Share knowledge and promote consistent accounting practices.
- Support the Manager with workload coordination and priority deliverables.
What we are looking for:
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent, or a recognised professional accounting qualification.
- Strong financial and/or client-accounting experience, preferably within professional services, corporate services or an international environment.
- Experience preparing and reviewing annual accounts, financial reports and reconciliations.
- Experience managing complex client portfolios and competing deadlines.
- Experience supporting and coordinating statutory audits.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and an understanding of financial controls.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to review, understand and address complex accounting transactions.
- The confidence to work independently and/or as part of a team as and when required.
While not essential, the following skills and experience would be advantageous:
- Knowledge of Dutch company law, Dutch GAAP and relevant Dutch tax requirements.
- Experience working with Dutch entities and international corporate structures.
- A good understanding of Dutch.
- Experience using Exact Online.
- Previous experience in an interim, project, backlog-remediation or transformation role.
- Experience supporting system implementation, integration or process-improvement activity.
