Introduction:

Successful candidates should possess in-depth risk and compliance expertise and strong leadership skills. 

 

Principal Accountabilities include:

  • Act as Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer for the management company and/or for special activity licences
  • Manage the overall compliance strategy by assisting the Board of Directors with strategic projects and to manage Compliance and Risk frameworks, working groups and policies
  • Drive process improvements throughout the organisation aligning outcomes with business goals
  • Serve as liaison between the GRC function and other business functions and build relationships to ensure productive collaboration on the development and implementation of Compliance and Risk policies and processes
  • Ensure effective relationships are maintained with Regulators through liaising with local teams, advisors and the Regulators directly
  • Advise on statutory and regulatory matters
  • Enhance the AML/CFT framework on an annual basis and ensure that the framework complies with prevailing regulatory and statutory requirements
  • Ensure that risks are identified and are constantly monitored, managed and mitigated through client risk assessment and business risk assessment
  • Develop compliance monitoring program to assess compliance with the AML/CFT framework, identify potential weaknesses and work on a remediation plan
  • Review and develop policies and procedures, enforce such policies and procedures and take actions regarding non-compliance situations
  • Managing the onboarding process ensuring both regulatory compliance and client requirements are satisfied including signing off on all new client files
  • Provide regular reports to the Board of Directors, Committees of the Board and to the Regional Head of GRC
  • Provide support to the Regional Head of GRC and take-on or participate in Group projects when required
  • Provide regular training on AML/CFT related topics, interpret and communicate statutory and regulatory changes
  • Work closely with Mauritius shared service team for compliance monitoring and testing
  • Collaborate with other entities within the group in complying with GRC policies and procedures
  • Lead and manage the GRC team

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years’ working experience in Governance, Compliance, Risk functions would be preferred
  • Sound knowledge of GRC –related laws and regulations in Mauritius
  • Excellent IT skills (including MS excel, MS PowerPoint and MS word)
  • Business level written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Have a high level of integrity and take ownership of all risk and compliance matters
  • Able to manage multiple tasks/projects and timelines
