Hawksford’s vibrant and forward-thinking career development is expertly structured to develop the skills you need to progress your career and achieve your ambition.
What school did you go to?
Jersey College for Girls (JCG).
What made you choose Hawksford?
After completing my A-levels at JCG, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in the finance industry. My careers teacher informed me that Hawksford had a trainee position available in the Funds team. Having looked at hawksford.com, I noticed that Hawksford had just won Independent Trust Company Team of the Year and it seemed like a growing and successful business. The job specification looked particularly interesting, with varied tasks and support for gaining qualifications; I was interested to find out more and so I applied for the role.
We believe in having fun at Hawksford with a variety of after-work activities - what has been your favourite?
Since I have been at Hawksford I have been able to try a range of activities, some of which I thought I would never do! I tried surfing, kayaking, tennis, cooking, boxing and fitness workouts. All in all, surfing was the activity I most enjoyed and I can’t wait to see what is in store for this year.
What does your typical day consist of?
I’ve been at Hawksford for the past four years and have progressed from a trainee to a senior administrator. I act as the administrator for a number of clients and in particular, a Jersey expert fund. I have had the opportunity to meet my clients in London and can say that everyday is different and presents new and interesting challenges.
Hawksford offers opportunities to learn and dedicated support. What professional training will you be doing or have you done whilst at Hawksford?
Hawksford has been really supportive with helping me to complete my qualifications. I have completed the Certificate in Offshore Administration and have just taken my last exam for the Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Diploma in Offshore Finance. I consider
myself to be a studious individual and I am eager to continue with further qualifications.
What does ‘looking forward’ mean to you and what are your next career steps?
I’m so pleased of my achievements so far, however I couldn’t have done this without the support from Hawksford. I’m looking forward to further business developments and further trips abroad to meet clients, new or old. I am keen to progress with further qualifications and look forward to what my future career at Hawksford will bring.
What advice can you give to others looking for employment?
I would suggest that you give everything a go, never let an opportunity pass you by. Looking back, I am so glad that I pursued a career straight after school and would recommend any individual to do the same.
